Supercomputing

If you're a student or a research staff or faculty member with a need for computational speed, you've come to the right place. Whatever your big computing needs, we can help.

Our mission is to help UCSB academic community members access and use the High Performance Computing resources only available from the national supercomputing centers: SDSC (San Diego Supercomputer Center) and NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications).

OIT's Supercomputing division offers assistance in the following areas:

  • Getting Started
Direction in choosing an architecture, setting up an account, and using your account.
  • Accounts
Individual block grant and class accounts.
  • User Support
Education and assistance for present and future users of NPACI and NCSA High Performance Computing resources.
  • System Support
Help with system configuration, hardware and software performance issues.
  • HPC Training
Workshops, seminars, tutorials, web-based training and classes.

It's our goal to serve the interests of anyone who has discovered that everyday computing just won't get the job done. If you have a computational problem whose reach exceeds your facilities' grasp, we're here to help and generate solutions -- ideally, the right ones. Bring us your ideas or RFPs: we'll work with you from day one to refine, elaborate, and round out your effort in any way we can.
