Workshops and Seminars
The OIT's Supercomputing division tailors High Performance Computing workshops to meet your needs. Our workshops are strictly demand-driventheir contents are designed and presented in response to the needs of our users. Contact us if you wish to attend a workshop or if you're interested in an altogether new workshop. Name the topic; if we can muster critical mass, we'll do the workshop.
We organized the following workshops in response to users' requests:
- Vector and Parallel Computation Methods on the SDSC CRAY Systems
- Introduction to Parallel Computing
- Parallel Computation Methods on the CM-2/CM-5
- Parallel Computation Methods on the IBM systems
- Scientific Visualization
- Using the TeraGrid
More topics are available through the SDSC Workshops.
Tutorials and Web-Based Training
The SDSC's User Support Group maintains links to information in the parallel and high performance computing fields, including links to tutorials and distance learning modules.
The NPACI offers High Performance Computing Web-Based Training as an adjunct or alternative to its onsite training sessions. For more information, visit the NPACI Web-Based Training page.
Classes
A primary mission of the OIT is education. Many of the special topics courses involve parallel computing. Examples include:
- Parallel Scientific Computing - CS110B
- High Performance Parallel Systems and Languages - CS240A
- Parallel Computing and Program Parallelization - CS240B
- Theoretical Analysis in Mechanical Engineering - ME140B
- Numerical Methods for Free and Moving Boundary Problems - ME245
- Finite Element Structural Analysis - ME271
The OIT supports these courses with class accounts on the NPACI machines, software, and system and user support.
