How to Install a Certificate for VPN

 

If the following window pops up after starting your VPN Client, then your computer is missing the proper certificate information required for connecting to the VPN.

Step 1: Download the rootcert file from the UCSB server. You will be prompted for your UCSBNetID and password in order to access the files.

Step 2: Select Advanced Mode from the Options menu in the VPN Client if it has a small window like this:

Step 3: Select Import... from the Certificates menu in the VPN Client.

Step 4: Make sure the Import from File radio button is selected, then click Browse.

Step 5: Navigate to where you downloaded the rootcert file, select the rootcert file, then click Open.

Step 6: Select Import, and the VPN Client will load in the certificate.

Step 7: If all goes well, you should see the following window. Click OK and try to make a connection to the VPN server again.
